One of the most delicious dal's, Mango dal/mamidikai pappu, is everybody's favourite and the most popular dal of Andhra. It's quick, simple and tasty. Make the tampering with ghee and enjoy the enhanced taste of the Mango Dal/ Mamidikai Pappu. So, let's get started and see Mango dal aka Mamidikai Pappu.
Ingredients required to make Mango dal/Mamidikai pappu
- Raw Mango: One Cup.
- Green chillies: 3 to 4
- Curry Leaves: 10- 15
- Mustard Seeds: 1/4 teaspoon
- Asafoetida: 1/4 teaspoon
- Fenugreek seeds: 6
- Cumin Seeds ( Zeera): Half a teaspoon
- Turmeric: 1/4 of a teaspoon
- Red Chilli Powder: Half a teaspoon
- Ghee: Two spoons.
Method: Recipe for Raw Mango Dal:
1. Keep all the required ingredients ready.
5. Add raw mango pieces: Put in the raw mango pieces and allow it to cook.
6. Put in the turmeric and red chilli powder: After 4-5 minutes add turmeric and red chilli powder and cook for 5 more minutes.
7. Add half a cup of water and let the mangoes cook for few minutes.
8. Now add the cooked yellow dal with 1 glass of water: Add required amount of salt *(Right amount of salt brings up the tangy taste of the mango)*
9. Let the Dal boil for 5-10 minutes: (till you achieve your desired consistency)
10. Once the Dal is all boiled it brings up the Ghee/ oil, and that's exactly when you can switch off the stove.
11. Now You can enjoy the very tasty, tangy and delicious MANGO DAL/Mamidikai Pappu. Serve it with rice along with some papad's/ Curd chillies and have a great meal 🙂
